Bondage and the Bible available on DVD

This newly released film by D. Eric Harmon reveals the bible's support for slavery and questions African American Christian's support for a book that condones holding humans in bondage.

Using scholars, pastors, and freethinkers, this documentary examines how African slaves were compelled to convert to Christianity. In the process, white slave masters opted to indoctrinate slaves with a religion that emphasized the bible's support for slavery and a visual representation of the divine in the form of white Jesus.

Topics included are the biblical "curses" whites invoked to justify black enslavement, passages that explicitly permit and endorse holding humans as property, the psychological damage the image of white Jesus inflicts on African American minds, and questions of faith that some black Christians face in modern times.

Running time 55 minutes. A Raitan Multi-Media Production. DVD copies are $19.95 for home viewing, and $250.00 for institutions such as universities and libraries. To order, visit Filmbaby.com and order online with your credit card.

The sad thing highlighted in this video is the deliberate denial by these black people to see the Bible for what it is; a fallacy. It is true that the slave holders did read into the Bible the reasons why they should hold blacks and other natives into bondage (The Canaan curse issue). This is because of the ambiguousness of the Bible, one can interoperate Bible verses to mean anything he or she wants. The fact is the Bible was the book use to justify slavery because it supports slavery.
How can an individual be against slavery yet support and find reasons why he or she should believe and accept the very book that supports the thing (slavery) he or she is against? Wake up black people.
